Project overview

Mado Pasta, a Serbian brand, sought to carve a niche in the market by offering homemade pasta in vibrant colors made from natural ingredients, without any artificial additives. To achieve this, they needed a clear brand strategy, a distinctive visual identity, and effective communication with their target audience.

UX process

Moye Design was tasked with designing the user experience and interface for Petit Chefs, a web app that aims to teach children simple cooking recipes while providing intuitive interfaces for parents, teachers, and administrators. The challenge was to create a platform that was both child-friendly and functional for adults.

1.  User research

To identify user-specific needs, we conducted interviews and observations with our three core user groups (parents, teachers, and children). For children, we observed how they interacted with educational apps, focusing on usability and engagement. For adults, the emphasis was on ease of lesson management and monitoring progress.

2.  User personas

We developed distinct user personas:

  • Children:
Their interface needed to be fun, simple, and highly visual, keeping the cognitive load low.
  • Parents/Teachers:
Required easy access to scheduling, lesson plans, and progress tracking.

3.  Information architecture

Each user group had its own set of tasks and goals, leading us to create separate user flows. Children had direct access to recipes and step-by-step instructions, while parents and teachers had dashboard-style interfaces for monitoring and management.

4.  Wireframes & prototyping

Using Figma, we developed wireframes and interactive prototypes to test various flows, focusing on efficiency and reducing task friction, especially for children navigating the recipe steps.

5.  Usability testing

Through iterative testing, adjustments were made based on feedback. Testing focused on how easily children could follow recipes and how quickly parents and teachers could complete management tasks.

Visual identity

1.  Logo design

We gave the typographic logo a bit of personality by adding an epic mustache and a chef’s hat. To top it off, we added a shiny effect to the letters, making them look like playful balloon animals.

2.  Color palette

We employed bright, playful colors and large, intuitive buttons for children, complemented by clean, organized layouts for adult users. The use of vibrant illustrations helped create a friendly, engaging atmosphere for children.

3.  Typography & iconography

Large, readable fonts and icons were chosen to make navigation simple and accessible for all user types. For children, iconography communicated actions quickly, while adults received a more structured design language.

4.  Imagery

For the imagery, we went with playful collages featuring kids surrounded by their favorite foods. The visuals are fun and inviting, helping kids see themselves as little chefs in the making.

Dashboard: Navigating Petit Chefs universe

Petit Chefs is a platform designed to bring culinary learning to life with tailored experiences for every user. Each role offers a unique way to engage with cooking and creativity.

Administrators

For administrators, the dashboard is a control center, making it easy to manage the platform and ensure everything runs smoothly.

  • Comprehensive platform management
  • User account creation and management
  • System-wide analytics and reporting
  • Oversight of all user activities and content

Teachers

Teachers, often professional chefs, get a streamlined way to plan and deliver lessons while tracking progress. Their tools turn cooking into a cross-disciplinary learning experience.

  • Create and manage cooking lesson plans
  • Track student progress across multiple classes
  • Assign recipes and learning modules

  • Communication tools for parent interactions
  • Customize learning paths for different student groups

Parents

Parents get a clear view of their child’s culinary journey, celebrating milestones and tracking progress.

  • Collect badges and points for completed recipes
  • Customize personal avatars
  • Take on interactive cooking challenges
  • Enjoy age-appropriate, secure content

Safety first

The platform is built with security at its core. Parents have full control, from setting permissions to monitoring activity, ensuring a safe and engaging experience for every young chef.

Outcome

Our design approach led to the successful launch of the Petit Chefs MVP. The child-centric UX, combined with a seamless administrative interface for adults, resulted in positive feedback and rapid user onboarding, including a key partnership with a Miami school. The MVP attracted significant investment, validating both the product concept and our design choices.
